Sculptra
Treatment Details
Typically, most patients receive a series of four Sculptra injections over a period of several weeks. These injections are strategically placed in different directions to create a mesh-like pattern under the skin. This means that once in place, the filler offers thorough coverage and can serve as a foundation upon which collagen can develop.
Since collagen development is a gradual process, it may take several months before the improvements in the face fully take hold. However, the gradual onset of results gives patients a more natural appearance, avoiding the over-filled look often associated with other treatments. You will not suddenly look like you’ve had significant work done.
By essentially rebuilding the underlying infrastructure of the face through collagen generation, this filler provides longer-lasting results compared to most other injectables. Patients usually enjoy the results for two years or more. Even if you decide not to repeat the treatment, you will still benefit from the extra collagen created by that initial fluid facelift.
We schedule 60-minute appointments for Sculptra procedures. This allows Dr. Brendenkamp to answer all your questions and expertly educate you about your treatment. Dr. Brendenkamp will discuss with you your injection treatment goals, budget, considering factors such as your age, skin quality, condition, genetics, etc., which can affect the amount of product required for optimal and natural results.
- Do NOT take aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aleve, Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, garlic pills, or other anti-inflammatory medications for 1-2 weeks if okay with your primary physician. - The ideal time to schedule this procedure is at LEAST 2 weeks before a big event.
- DO massage the treated areas 5 times a day for about 5 minutes for 5 days after treatment.
- DO hold ice packs on the treated areas gently for about 3-5 minutes a few times that day.
- Feel free to wear makeup a few hours after.
- Treated areas may be red, swollen, and bruised for the first 2-7 days.
- Do NOT get a facial or massage for 2 weeks after your procedure.
